My Christmas Tree

I have a secret Santa at work...this arrived in an interoffice envelope. I just had to share with everyone.
Since I did not put up a Christmas tree this year, this fits the ticket perfectly. The best part is that I can take this down and it stores in it's own box. What a great idea.

I am a CR State Rep

as my daughter-in-law says: WOOT! ~ I had my last interview (an hour long teleconference) on Thursday (12/9) last week and got the okay on Friday...I am on 90 days probation and then a 2 year commitment. I cannot wait to meet other reps for my region, which will happen this Spring at a regional conference. Please pray that I show Christ and His grace in all I do for Celebrate Recovery.

I have a router and am wireless

While my son was home for this past weekend he purchased a router for me. It came and was on my doorstep this evening when I got home from work. I called my son, he talked me through setting up (which I know was a little trying on his patience), but we got it set up and wohoo I can now get on my laptop in my living room and email, download or browse. It is something this new tech stuff...yeah, now all I need is a web cam and start doing it ~ I think that will be next. I have to move slow and get used to one idea at a time.

Kids were home

Well, had a very nice couple of days while my son and daughter-in-law were home for a long weekend to celebrate Christmas. It was so nice to get my daughter, her husband, my son and his wife together in one place. Had not seen my son and his wife since this past April for a couple of hours while I was in TX at my nephew's graduation from Air Force airman camp. To get together to talk, laugh and just enjoy the togetherness. WOW or as my daughter-in-law says: WOOT~ makes a Mom happier than nothing else.

Harry Potter Part 1 - Cont'd

I was thinking that the opening on this movie and it reminded me of some scriptures in the Bible that talk about wars being done by the heavenly hosts - Angels - against the demons in the spiritual realm that we cannot see. It is kind of frightening to think about this going on in the heavens and we go about our daily lives not even considering these things. The evil one is always around. Looking for that chink in your Godly armor. Another reason why Celebrate Recovery and it's 12 steps with the 8 principles keep me going on a little stronger than if I did not have them. Just some thoughts...

Need Prayers part 2

Well I have decided to go for the NE Ohio State Rep for Celebrate Recovery. I have sent in my tesimony, filled out the application, had 1 phone interview with the Regional rep and now all I have to do is have my interview with the national rep. Then I guess I wait to hear if I am chosen. A big responsibility. One I feel God brought to me. Am excited about the prospect, but nervous too. Everyone thinks I am sooooo outgoing, but in strange places and with new people, not so much. So this will be a little out of my comfort zone. I feel that this will open doors I had no idea was out there, in ways I cannot even imagine. God is so good, all the time. Thanks to everyone that prayed for me, you are truly great to have in my life.

Harry Potter Part 1

Me and my girlfriend "M" went this past Sunday to see the new Harry Potter movie that just came out. I thought it was very good and basically followed the book. What was really neat is to find out that my girlfriend likes Harry Potter...and I was trying to think of whom I could ask to go with me to see this movie when "M" asked me. So now I know who to go with to see Part 2. I need to reread the books. It has been a few years since I have.

Trunk 'n Treat

Tonight we had Trunk 'n Treat at our church. There were about 12 vehicles with their "trunks" decorated and passing out candy. We had Jonah in the belly of a great fish, 2 pirates, a country theme, pumpkin theme, a Knight theme and others. It was guessed that there had been approx 1,000 kids come through for candy...we had to go out 2 times for more candy. We are going with it being a great success and I heard thoughts of how to make it better next year - and make sure we have more candy! It was loads of fun. I took my dog and she seemed to be a big hit with the really young kids - them wanting to pet her...glad she is a very laid back and calm dog.

My kids are coming home

Yes, I found out last night that my son and daughter-in-law will be coming home the first weekend in December for Christmas with me, my daughter and son-in-law, family and friends. Can you tell I am excited?!!!! Have not seen them since April and that was only for a couple of hours while I was down their way to see my nephew graduate from the Air Force boot camp. A lot to do before they get home...can't wait!!!!

Need Prayers

Well I have been involved with Celebrate Recovery (a Christ centered 12 step) for 4 years and have been a Co-Ministry Leader for the past 3 years. I was asked 2 years ago to be the Northern Ohio State Rep. I said no at the time because I had just lost my job, was intensely looking for another and other things I had had to deal with 2 years prior was coming to a close. Now CR has come back to me and asked me to be a State Rep for part of NE Ohio. I want to say yes, I feel that God has opened another door. There are considerations from all sides, not the least the financing of trips to CA every year, to regional conference every year, and a 1 day seminar in the region every year. Along with visiting running CR groups and ones just getting started, which all takes time and effort. So prayers are needed from you for God to let me know LOUD and CLEAR what I am to do and to know this is His want, not mine.

Mum Fest

My Sister (L) and I went to Lake Anna to see the Mum Festival. There was a water skiing show. Mums everywhere, ice scuptures, gourd and melon carving, sunny day, beautiful weather and a great time had by all. Of course crafts and food vendors all around. A nice day to be outdoors.

Barns & Quilts

My Sister (L) and I went to Amish country last weekend - height of color for the trees - and she found on Visit Ohio website a self-guided tour of barns with painted quilt patterns on them. I have included some pictures. We had a great time. Stopped at a store and bought some Summer Sausage, cheese, crackers and grapes - had a great lunch fare. Took our dogs and was gone most of the day.

Why do I have a "blog" you ask?

Well, it is like this...I am a member of Facebook, yeah not such a fan...I do not like all the postings of everyone I am "friends" with and their friends and so on. So I figure this way all that will be posted are my miranderings with some comments from the people I tell about my blog.

Next question: Why is it named Gail's Fifth Wheel? Well, that is what I hope to do when I retire, is travel for a few years in a Fifth Wheel (RV) going around this great country of ours - The United States of America!

Now all I need to do is figure out how to post pictures and such...that will come later as I get into this blogging thing...please do not expect too much at the beginning. Oh, I will only post initials of my family and friends and you will either know whom I am speaking of or you will not. I know that once things are out in the "internet" it can not be gotten back...so I like a little privacy and mystery if you will.

That is all for now...hope to get back in a few days, and maybe get some pictures up from when I visited my son and daughter-on-law in Texas in January of this year - just last month.
